Rangatahi Tū Rangatira is a Māori and Pacific Island Leadership program that challenges the inherent mana of our young people. The aim is to provide a leadership development programme of whanaungatanga and combined strength which will support, encourage and inspire young Māori and Polynesian rangatahi to celebrate their identity to challenge themselves as young leaders to grow from weaving into themselves to weaving into others. The Māori Term ‘Ranga’ comes from ‘Ra Ranga’ which means to weave and ‘Tahi’ means one. Where ‘Tira’ means many, thus embodying Rangatahi Tū Rangatira and encapsulates this aim with our young people. We do this by getting rangatahi to be involved in creatively facilitated conversations of what that would look like for our young leaders in school, home and community. Rangatahi Tū Rangatira is about encouraging our rangatahi to stand up and be a rangatira within their own circles of connection.
