Driver Licensing Programme

Waka Ako helps rangatahi and whānau gain their learner, restricted and full driver licences.

Having a licence can open up opportunities for work, study, whānau responsibilities and greater independence. Our team supports participants through each stage, from learning the road code and booking tests to building confidence behind the wheel.

Participants are supported by driving mentors and qualified driving instructors who provide practical lessons, guidance and encouragement in a safe, welcoming environment. We understand that learning to drive and sitting a licence can be harder for some than others, so Waka Ako caters to individual learning needs and works at a pace that builds confidence.

Waka Ako also runs wānanga where participants can strengthen their road safety knowledge, prepare for upcoming tests and learn alongside others on the same journey.

Whether you are sitting your learner licence for the first time, working towards your restricted or ready for your full licence, Waka Ako is here to help you get on the road.
